Make an appointment with the promotor to discuss the topic, and request it only after you reached a

A topic published somewhere else (a research group's website, a company, …) that isn't listed in Tessy.
Your own idea
You came up with it yourself, and a promotor agreed to supervise it.
Either way, agree on it with the promotor first. Then:
- Go to My registration and click Create custom topic.
- Fill in a title and the promotor(s) you agreed with.
- Click Send for approval. You can edit until you send it.
- Course staff check it first; then it goes to the promotor, who accepts or declines it.

Later: your defense

Click Submit and request defense. You can withdraw while the session is open.
Your slot
Once the schedule is out you get an e-mail, and your home page and the same page show when and where you defend, and your jury. Add to my calendar keeps it in your calendar.
E-mails from Tessy
- Your request was accepted or declined (with the message), also for a custom topic.
- Course staff registered a topic for you directly.
- Your defense schedule, and when it changes.
Each step is open during a period set by your course. If a page says it's closed, check with your course staff.
